MY FACE MENTOR Program

Our MENTOR (Mentoring, Empowerment, Nurturing, Training, Opportunities, Responsibility) Program for single mothers is intended to service our participants by enrolling them to partner with other more experienced women (our mentors) who give them guidance, counseling, mentoring, coaching, personal development, and general support and help them to identify what their dreams are, what they want to achieve, what their goals and ambitions are, and how they plan to move forward. They discuss life possibilities and how they can become all they can be. They maintain contact with each other on a regular basis, including them in group meetings / workshops, assist them with basic needs, when possible, providing leadership training, and helping them access educational venues and adequate employment. They support them, motivate them, encourage them, throughout the process and become their village. During their tenure, they not only work with personal mentors, they also work with the entire village which provides training in Living Your Life's Purpose, Visioning, Career Planning, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Mental Health Awareness, and other similar topics. We believe that it is the village that helps transform people into becoming who and what they want to be. This concept helps create economic empowerment for individuals and families who have thus far been left behind. They remain in our program for 2.5 years. We are finding that after they achieve their goals, they want to stay in the program to "reach back" and help others.  Plans for the future are to engage women of other ages and economic levels to build confidence in themselves and support each other in their personal growth and professional advancement.

Upcoming Programs to be initiated in  2026

Three other programs that we are planning to initiate in 2026 are:

1. Mentoring sessions for teenage girls (ages 14-18). This program is appropriately titled Jewels to Gems and will be facilitated by Dr. Monica Jackson. Through this twelve-month program young ladies will connect with inspiring mentors, uncover their strengths, and begin to shape their dreams. It will be a teenage version of the MENTOR program that we offer to single mothers to help them become economically sustained.

2. Coping classes for women in their forties and fifties. Our Single Mothers program primarily attracts women in their twenties and thirties, but we forget that middle-aged women are being excluded. A few women in this age group have requested to be in our Single Mothers program and we have admitted them, but their children are older and they may have been through a few divorces. Subsequently, they have had different life experiences and thus broadened insights.

3. Life skills management for older women in their sixties and seventies. We are finding that man older women have never felt empowered. They may have raised children or retired from lucrative employment, yet they never became fulfilled in being their best selves. This idea was initiated by some of our volunteers who recognized that their mothers could benefit from building their self-confidence and learning to love who they are within.

She was fierce. She was simple. She was crazy and always had something to say. She had flaws, but when she was down she got right back up. She was a beast in her own way but one word described her best… Strong!
